2010 New Lines - New Balance 574 Sneakers Set To Make A Big
Comeback
Retro-Styled New Balance 574 Sneakers are Set to Make a Splash
Again with New Lines. New Balance 574 sneakers are making a big comeback in 2010, after being a key model for the
company in the 1990s. In the fall, the company is set to release its "Sonic Pack" line which features redesigned
New Balance 574 shoes made using Sonic technology. This technology uses heat and pressure to weld the side panels
and toe box to the rest of the shoe, resulting in a shoe that has a completely seamless look rather than appearing
sewn together. The Sonic Pack features shoes with a suede/mesh upper with a white midsole and black outsole, and is
available in black, grey and brown with differently-colored heel tab. For Summer 2010, the company also released a
variant edition with a neon orange colorway.
New Balance 574 Redesign
But even the regular line of New Balance 574 shoes is enjoying a
redesign, with the uppers now being made of Ceracom, a synthetic rubber-like material that will make the sneaker
more durable and easier to clean. Other changes include adding a layer of Abzorb in the footbed for increased
cushioning and shock absorption as well as an anti-microbial footbed. The new New Balance 574 sneakers are available in three colorways, blue/grey,
black/grey and brown/grey. A new colorway, Olive Green/Grey, was released in mid-2010, featuring an upper made of
olive green suede and logos made of metallic grey.
New Balance 574 Sneakers Limited
Release
New Balance also collaborated with familiar brands for limited release New Balance
574 sneakers. The company recently teamed up with Japanese toymaker Tamiya to produce a colorful shoe
inspired by Tamiya's Dash-1 emperor toy car. Released in December 2009, the sneaker (that was sold through selected
retail outlets) came with a Dash-1 emperor model car in one of two colorways as well as a messenger bag. It also
teamed up with the fashion-technology label DDCLAB to release New Balance 574 shoes in a black/white colorway, a
premium shoe with a black leather upper and a perforated design.
New Balnce 574 Premium
Pack
New Balance penetrated the high-end shoe market by releasing the Premium Pack in the spring. The
sneakers feature uppers made of full-grain Italian leather, nylon, breathable suede or waxed canvas plus underlays
made of perforated canvas in black and gold, and are offered in three colorways with colorful ankle collars: Navy
Suede/Metallic Mesh, Black Leather/Canvas and Green/Grey Leather/Mesh. The line also featured some modifications to
make it more comfortable, such as adding ABZORB cushioning and lowering the EVA on the midsole slightly.
New Balance 574 New Shoe
Lines
Finally, worth mentioning are two New Balance 574 shoes lines. The Transportation Pack was a
2007 limited-release inspired by various modes of transportation: sea, land and air. The shoes feature maps or
charts on the 'N' logo and the tongue as well as logos representing a particular mode of transport (airplanes,
anchors, cargo container trucks) on the heel, and colorways reflecting the theme. More recently, the 3M collection,
released in mid-2010, featured shoes enhanced by 3M reflective material, particularly on the 'N' logos and heel
panels. It is available in a variety of colorways, including combinations of green, grey and blue, and uppers made
of premium leather, reflective croc leather and suede.
